The Style Edit: 70s Retro

As much as I’m reluctant to admit it, Summer is coming to an end and Autumn is fast approaching, so it’s a good time to add a few transitional pieces to my wardrobe such as this suede look skirt.

Green isn’t a colour I wear that often but I really like the look achieved with this combination so I think I may feature green a bit more in my outfit choices. Blouses have made quite a comeback this season, which I couldn’t be happier about. Love a good blouse!

I adore these lace up Ghillie shoes from Topshop, so much so I recently got a pair in red too. I have to admit they did take a little breaking in for me, but they’re now so comfy. I love flats & these are my go to ones at the moment. I’ve had so many compliments too & everyone always wants to know where they’re from.

I’m really enjoying all the 70s inspired fashion in stores at the moment and this skirt is great for dipping your toe into the retro 70s look if you feel like experimenting. The skirt is such a good wardrobe staple & it’ll work well with black tights too when it gets colder.

Today I’m Wearing

This is one of my favourite new Summer looks, I love everything about it and it’s just so comfy. This outfit is a little Wimbledon inspired and if I was lucky enough to have tickets to Centre Court, this would be my outfit of choice (last time I had Centre Court tickets, I’d camped out overnight and I definitely didn’t look as together as this).

Coral is very much my favourite Summer shade at the moment, can’t seem to get enough of it, even my gym water bottle is coral! This skirt is just beautiful and something new in style for my look. The coral shade is lovely and I really like the structure the pleats provide. I’ll be featuring this skirt in a few up coming posts as I’ll try out different looks.

Another favourite is this Blush tone blazer with scallop detail. It’s a a great piece to throw over a Summer outfit and makes this outfit suitable for work.

The shoes are an old favourite from Office. The minty green shade is beautiful (I love minty green which you may have noticed) and I think the shoes just bring the outfit together.

Today I’m Wearing

This outfit is one of my favourites at the moment. It’s so comfy (I’m such a comfort seeker) & I love every piece which makes up the finished look, especially the statement kimono jacket. The jacket was a recent purchase, I wasn’t even really looking for another kimono but I spied this in River Island & thought it was different to the plethora of kimonos available at the moment. I liked that it has sleeves & is lined making it feel more like a jacket. The length is ideal for me & I think it would work really well with a dress too.

This ASOS top is another favourite of mine at the moment. It’s great for dressing up a pair of jeans & the lace detail adds a lovely finish.

The skinny jeans are Topshop Leigh jeans; a recent treat to self as I had a voucher to use. I haven’t bought Topshop jeans in such a long time but the Leigh style is super soft & so comfy they were an instant hit.

The Art Deco beading really complements the pattern, giving the kimono that Great Gatsby feel which I really like. The beading also adds weight making it drape well & achieve a flattering look.

I love these Zara tie up sandals! I’ve been on the hunt for the right pair of black tie up shoes for ages! I wanted something a little dressy but with a heel I could walk around in, something suitable for work & more everyday wear. The block heel on these are perfect & the shoes tick all the boxes. I only got these the other week, but I have a feeling that they may be sold out now as they only had size 3 available when I bought them online (luckily I’m a size 3).

Today I’m Wearing

I’ve made a few recent purchases so I thought I’d do a quick outfit post today featuring my favourite…… monochrome and my gorgeous new bag from Zara.

This monochrome dresses is one of my favourite pieces at the moment. It’s a great Spring addition to my wardrobe and it’ll be lovely in the Summer when I’m more tanned. I love the fit of the dress, it’s just so comfy which is always important to me. I’ve had lots of compliments on the dress too which has been lovely.

I absolutely love this quilted bag from Zara, I can’t stop wearing it and I love it so much I’ll be featuring it in a review post next week.

Today I’m Wearing

I’m going to confess, lately I have a bit of a thing for animal print and when I saw this woollen animal print coat in H&M I instantly loved it, so it came home with me.

This coat is such a classic staple piece which I think will last me a good few years. I love how I can team the coat easily over a black outfit with some red lipstick for an instantly glam look. For me animal print is a classic neutral which really pulls an outfit together!

I couldn’t believe this was made of wool for the price that it was, a combination of style, function and good value which is ideal for me.  I love the design of the pattern and the coat keeps me so cosy and warm but it’s not too heavy so I can wear it through Spring too.

This blanket scarf from Zara is one of my favourite wardrobe pieces. I’ve featured it on the blog before, but this year I’ve been playing around with it more, finding different ways to style it to keep me warm and toasty in the cold and Wintery weather.

When I buy any new wardrobe addition I like to make sure it’s something I can get plenty of wear out of, so I love it when I can give a treasured piece a fresh new look with a careful bit of styling. I also enjoy trying new things and being more adventurous with my clothes, so I love how this grey Fedora goes with this outfit not to mention how warm and cosy this whole look keeps me. The scarf is so versatile with the double pattern and I have been known to use it as a blanket when travelling.

Today I'm Wearing

I love it when I can take a favourite item from my wardrobe like this heart print monochrome dress and give it a fresh new update as the seasons change and it gets colder by simply combining it with some well chosen accessories.

I’ve been looking for the right black faux fur gilet for a while now as I wanted one that was a little longer in length as I thought it would go perfectly with this dress. I was so pleased when I found this gilet and I couldn’t be happier with the final look. The gilet is so warm and cosy and I love wearing it nipped in with a belt.

This winter, one of my favourite accessories is a floppy woollen hat. I think they really transform a look and are just so flattering. A very chic way to keep your ears warm! The colour of this Burgundy hat is just gorgeous and it provides a beautiful lift to the complexion in the cold and grey winter months.

This is such a comfortable look and perfect for when I’m running about in town on the weekend. I’m so happy with my new City bag. I’d wanted one which I could fit my laptop into especially on days where I’ll be blogging on the go and I just love how spacious and organised this bag is. The colour is gorgeous and very different to the other bags I own and a great addition to my wardrobe.

Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall – F. Scott Fitzgerald

It seems that Autumn is very much here as the unseasonably balmy days give way to colder, crisper days and it’s time to reach for warmer clothes. I have to admit I was quite excited to have the chance to dig out my favourite jumper dress and team it with some new purchases.

I love Autumnal clothes, the cosier jumpers, hats and boots are always my favourites and this year I’m determined to make the most of them before it gets really cold.

I really do love this jumper dress, the shape of it is great and a little different with the batwing sleeves. I love how the dress looks with my new over the knee boots. I’ve not tried the over the knee look before so definitely something new for me, but I love experimenting with new looks and styles and I’m really pleased with how these look on.

I spied this over sized clutch on Pinterest and fell in love with it, but unfortunately it was no longer available in Accessorize, however with the power of Ebay I was able to track one down….hooray! With an oversized clutch bag I don’t have to worry about fitting my ‘necessities’ in so it’s all good!

I’ve been feeling inspired by my friend Ree-tah over on www.styledintofashion.com She’s really mastered the floppy woollen hat look, which made me want to try another new thing and I’m very glad with the result with this hat. I think this is the start of something new as I’ve now got my eye on a Burgundy one and a Grey Fedora.

Today I’m Wearing

It seems that Summer is fully here with the days being hot, hot, hot and last weekend I enjoyed the sunshine and good weather whilst pottering around Hampton Court Flower Show. I decided to wear my brand new Jackie O’ Ray Bans and kimono with one of my favourite Summer dresses, so I thought I’d capture it all on a ‘Today I’m Wearing’ post.

With it being so hot, I experimented a little with a new undo for my bob length hair and I was really pleased that it managed to stay in place all day and make things so much cooler in the heat.

I really love this gorgeous Kimono and it’s become one of my wardrobe staples. I’d been looking for a Kimono for ages and when I saw this, I knew it was exactly the style I wanted. The colour is a beautiful Blue-Grey, the cut is lovely and the lace adds a beautiful finish. I think it’s a such a versatile piece, perfect for festivals, holidays and being out and about on a sunny Summer’s day. Its also available in white and black.

Jackie O’ Ray Bans: £87 Amazon

Kimono: Primark current £15

Embroidered Summer dress £25 H&M – old

Shoes: New Look £20 no longer available but similar style here
