On Sunday I caught the last of the LFW vibe in London as I popped along to LFW Festival for an afternoon of shopping, catwalks and a glass of bubbles. The show was at The Store Studio 180 The Strand; a very urban, exposed warehouse space with a bigger than ever catwalk.
I love a good catwalk show and this time I took my seat on the FROW for the Trend show. Stylist Julia Brenard had worked her magic and we were literally dazzled as we were presented with a showcase of the three key trends: That Seventies Show, Suiting and Dazzle.
THE SEVENTIES SHOWThis trend is here to stay for another season and definitely bigger and better. I’ve already got my eye on some key pieces on the high street such as an burnt orange suede A-line skirt in Next and I’m so excited that slouchy boots are back. Over sized shearling jackets and faux fur continue to be wardrobe staples and I’m loving the detailed prints which have updated the jumpsuit look.
SUITINGThe trouser suit is back and it’s all about good tailoring. I know we all associate suiting with the workplace but sharp, city style suiting stole the show on the runway this season. The trouser suit is one of Autumn’s key buys and it’s not just about the classic pin-strip, expect to see prints galore and a variety of styles and shapes. There will be something out there to suit everyone (haha, no pun intended). This animal print suit totally stole my heart and I love how it was partnered with a slogan tee for a more modern everyday look. The suiting look is great with heels or flats and a perfect addition to a capsule wardrobe as there are so many looks you can achieve with these two pieces, especially if you want to ease your way into this trend and not look too matchy-matchy. Great with a crisp white shirt, a leather jacket with the trousers or a blazer and jeans or skirt combo. The possibilities are as huge as your imagination!
DAZZLEDWith talk already turning to Christmas, it’s not surprising that going out out and all things bling is going to be a major AW17 trend. It’s not just for party looks though, with metallic puffer coats already hitting the high street. Gold isn’t the only way to embrace this trend as silver, pewter and gunmetal are also key shades for the season. My favourite look of the catwalk was the embellished blue with the almost molten gold skirt, completely stunning. Lurex , lamé chainmail and diamanté dazzled the front row. Keep accessories simple with this look, it’s all about the sparkle being the focus with this trend which definitely has me singing Hotline Bling in my head!
What key trends are you loving this AW?
