I completely fell in love with Rose of No Man’s Land from the Swedish perfume brand Byredo back in November on a visit to the NK Store while in Gothenburg. We were at the Byredo counter for ages, sampling the beautiful scents. They’re all lovely, but this scent just really stood out for the both of us. Unfortunately though, as much as I wanted to snap this up straight away, I just couldn’t justify it at the time because well, ahem….I’d recently indulged in a bit of a Jo Malone haul…oops.

Fast forward to now and having spent the last few months being good, using up a lot of the products I already have and majorly cutting down spending-wise on all things beauty, I had a ‘treat yo’self’ moment last payday in the Liberty beauty hall and added this gorgeousness to my perfume collection.

Byredo was founded in 2006 by Ben Gorham. Inspired to apply his artistic background to scent and start a perfume brand after a trip to his Mother’s hometown in India, Gorham created Byredo Parfums with an understated approach, using simple compositions of the highest quality materials and expanded into home scent, haircare, and bath.

“A pure rose, with velvety petals, firmly rooted in a deserted land. Both mysterious and bounteous, they are symbols of life and hope”. This was Ben Gorham’s vision as he created Rose Of No Man’s Land, a beautiful tribute to the Red Cross nurses of World War One. Their humbling stories of selflessness and compassion is honoured by the perfume’s elegant and soothing fragrance. One of my favourite things about the perfume is that it supports humanitarian efforts as a part of the profits raised by the sale Rose Of No Man’s Land goes to Doctors Without Borders.

The fragrance  has subtle hints of pink pepper and Turkish Rose Absolute and there are comforting notes of amber and raspberry blossom. Some have stated this fragrance to be a masculine scent despite the Breydo range being fully unisex. I was discussing this with the Breydo sales assistant in Liberty and we both agreed that Rose of No Man’s Land is a scent which would suit everyone.

As you’d expect from an eau de parfum, the price point is on the higher end of the spectrum, but the quality of the scent is incredible, one spritz is more than enough and lasts all day.

The minimalist monochrome design of the Bryedo packaging has become an Instagram favourite. I love the simple look of the packaging and there is just something very satisfying about the ‘click’ from the magnetic lid. The perfume has easily taken pride of place on my dressing table.
