Recently at work, we’ve had a huge office re-locate to an exciting part of town. All very exciting until a colleague remarked that there isn’t now a trusty Space NK near our new office!! I know, I know this is a privileged problem to have, but I have to confess that there have been times just having a little browse at the lovely things, trying out a bright lipstick or having a little makeover in Space NK has brightened a gloomy day. Yes, I’m guilty of spending many a moment and much of my hard earned cash in Space NK (Right now the Clean Decoded By Space NK X Caroline Hirons collection is hard to resist), often when I’ve just popped in to have an innocent browse, but I don’t regret it as I love Space NK and it brings me joy. Recently a friend mentioned that she feels a bit too intimidated to go into the stores as she doesn’t know where to start with all they have to offer, so I ran through a few of my favourite brands and products and she thought I should write it all down on the blog too, so here we are….
Beauty
Clean Decoded By Space NK X Caroline Hirons I’m just going to mention this very quickly as I’ve been busy playing around with the products and there will be a full review post up very soon, but I had to mention this because it’s so, so exciting and Space NK’s big new release. For those of you who don’t know, Caroline Hirons has collaborated with Space NK to launch a limited-edition clean beauty collection featuring nine of her favourite products from their Clean Decoded campaign. Worth over £200, the beauty box features skincare and makeup from Hourglass, Ren, Tata Harper, Herbivore and more. It’s sold out a couple times online, but it’s back in stock, so if you’d like one, be quick and make use of the £10 off offer at the bottom of this post!
Nars Lip Gloss in Dolce Vita Recently I was at a friend’s wedding, it was a full on Asian affair so there came a point where it was time to head up to the main stage and have our group photo with the bride and groom. Cue the obligatory rooting around in handbags for mirrors and make-up to make sure everything hadn’t melted off in the heat and to try and look as on point as you can in a humid marquee during the heatwave. As I looked up around our table, we all proceeded to pull out this Nars lip gloss from our clutch bags and exclaim it’s the perfect shade for our respective different skin tones. It’s true, Dolce Vita suits everyone! On some it’s a beautiful rose pink, others more of a berry pink, it looks gorgeous in every light. Importantly I need to point out the formula is amazing too – not a horrible sticky lip gloss texture so no worries about your hair getting caught in it and dragging it across your face either…phew!
By Terry Cellularose Brightening CC Serum – Sunny Flash The lovely Lydia Millen brought this amazing serum to my attention and I adore it. Yes, it is a bit spendy item, but I put it on my Christmas wish list and I was very lucky to receive it from Adrian. He too now knows about my love of Space NK. A little goes a long way with this so it lasts for ages and it’s super versatile. You can dab some straight onto skin or mix it with some moisturiser or your foundation. It gives me such a healthy glow, which looks natural and not too sparkly. Plus the rose scent is gorgeous!!
By Terry Compact Expert Dual Powder By Terry is a range which originally drew me to Space NK as it was exclusively available there, but is stocked on a wider scale now. The Dual Powders are incredible. It’s a great powder for when you’re on the go as you have bronze or blush and a highlighter in one. The texture is so soft, it glides onto the skin and creates such a smooth finish. You get the perfect amount of colour which gives a natural, healthy look. I have the powder in Sunny Desire and Choco Vanilla.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter Royal Glow Oh my, the internet went wild for this highlighter, yes the release around the Royal wedding may have had something to do with that, but it’s a gorgeous highlighter which suits everyone. Again a little goes a long way with this, a light dusting is all you need for a beautiful glow!
Skincare
Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel This cleanser is dreamy; an illuminating gel-to-oil facial cleanser that works wonderfully to remove makeup and impurities. Packed with vitamins and gentle on the skin, my face feels incredible after I’ve used this as part of a double cleanse. It starts off as a pink balm, which then melts into the skin and turns milky when mixed with water, making it effective and easy to rinse cleanly away. The formula is super gentle which makes it ideal for repairing and soothing sun damaged and dry skin. It does contain fruit enzymes which remove dead skin cells but it doesn’t feel tingly or uncomfortable on the skin at all which I love.
Herbivore Coco Rose Body Polish I’m a fan of treating yourself from time to time with a luxury bath product. I was at first reluctant to spend a lot on a body scrub, but I was curious about the Herbivore range. I first heard about Herbivore through Hopscotch and then earlier this year Space NK began to stock the range. The non-toxic, highly effective products combined with the Instagrammable packaging has made Herbivore one of the most covetable brands of the moment. The Coco Rose Body Polish is divine!! It smells like Coconut Ice and is an incredibly moisturising and gently exfoliating body scrub. It’s a blend of Virgin Coconut Oil and delicate floral Moroccan Rose. Great for the Summer weather too as it rehydrates your skin and leaves a beautiful polished glow. It’s definitely earned pride of place in my bathroom.
Herbivore Lapis Balancing Facial Oil Lapis and me go way, way back so when I saw Herbivore have a Lapis facial oil I was more than mildly intrigued. I love a good facial oil! At first I didn’t know what to do with them and then it all just clicked thanks to Caroline Hirons and now I can’t get enough of them as the effects on my skin are so noticeable. This facial oil contains Blue Tansy which holds a component called Azulene. It acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial that aids in reducing the appearance of redness and clarifies the complexion. The lapis balancing oil is formulated for combination, oily, and blemish-prone skin types or any skin in need of relief from inflammation. I tend to reach for this oil at that certain time of the month when I’m prone to hormonal break-outs. The travel size is super handy and lets you try out the oil and see how it works on with your skin, without having to commit to the £60 version from the get go.
Hair
Ouai This hair range is from hair stylist extraordinaire Jen Atkin – she’s responsible for looking after the Kardashian clan’s hair needs as well as a range other celebs and whatever you may think about the Kardashians, there is no denying they do good hair. The Ouai range was inspired by effortless Parisian looks. I like the simplicity of the design and the two products which have really stood out for me have been the volume conditioner and the texturising spray. I guess I’m all about the volume! The spray is so good and it doubles as a dry shampoo. There is no chalky residue and your hair is not left matte and sticky, big pluses for me.
IGK Hair Expensive Amla Oil Hi-Shine Topcoat My sister swears by Amla oil as being a great tonic for the hair, but sometimes she complains about the smell of the some of the traditional formula, which kinda put me off giving Amala oil a go. Then I came across this at a time when my hair was feeling and looking very dehydrated from Balayage. I had some Space NK vouchers burning a hole in my pocket and I thought there was no harm in trying this out and seeing if it lived up to the rave reviews. Oh my gosh!!! What a difference this has made, my hair literally soaked it up and for the first time in what felt like forever my hair had it’s shine back. I use this now as a weekly hair treatment, perfect for a Sunday pamper and my hair is left feeling like its usual self. Happy days!
Fragrance
Byredo Rose of No Man’s Land is one of my all time favourite perfumes. The Swedish perfume brand was founded in 2006 by Ben Gorham. After travelling to his mother`s hometown in India, Ben was intrigued by the aromas of spices and incense. Inspired by this trip, BYREDO’s scented candles and perfumes have been developed with an understated approach, using simple composition of the highest quality raw materials and expanded into home scent, haircare and bath. I like the simple designs of the packaging, the focus is on the scents which really so unique.
Home
Diptyque candles To me nothing says luxury candle more than a Diptyque candle. They have been scenting the homes (and bodies) of the most discerning residents of Paris and beyond since 1961. Some even credit Diptyque for today’s love of scented candles and it’s not hard to see why. The design of the candles with the chic oval label on every Diptyque fragrance has become instantly recognisable and if ever I’m in Paris, I always try to visit the original store in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It is a luxury candle with prices to match, but what I love are the travel size 70g candles. Much more affordable and the scent pay off isn’t compromised with the smaller size.
Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Wash OK, I’m not going to lie, this is a spendy hand wash, but it leaves my hands feeling incredibly soft water even though I live in a super hard water area. The with Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Wash is one of the brand’s best sellers. The Australian skincare specialists uses traditional techniques alongside the latest innovations to harness botanical extracts and improve skin quality. The specialist blend in the hand wash includes various essential oils, including mandarin and cedar, to act as an antiseptic, along with rosemary and lavender to provide a beautiful fresh fragrance.
Life
Space NK Travel bag This has been an absolute game changer for me. I spied it on Lily Pebble’s Instagram Stories and snapped one up right away, cashing in some of my N.Dulge points. I’d seen the Anya Hindmarch one, but that ranges between £195-£295 and no way could I justify that. So my search began and then low and behold Space NK go and release their very own version costing £24. Yes, it’s stated as being travel and airport friendly (this can vary with airport and flight operator though sometimes), but the reason I adore this simple bag is because it’s perfect for storing all the insulin pump essentials I need to bring with me on a daily basis. This alone brings me so much joy and I get to use it everyday. The travel bag is the perfect size and shape to put in my handbag or overnight bag and as it’s clear I know at a glance that I have everything I need with me. It’s also great at airports as security can be perplexed by the odd shapes of the pump accessories sometimes so with this nothing is hidden. The travel bags keep selling out, but they’re currently back in stock so worth grabbing one as they won’t hang around for long. Rumour has it that Space NK are looking to release new colours too, so watch this space!
N.DULGE
One of my favourite things about Space NK is the N.Dulge loyalty card. You get a point for every £1 you spend and for every 100 points you get a £5 voucher which is valid for 3 months. From time to time there are double points promotions too. However it’s much more than just a loyalty points scheme as through the N.Duldge card you also receive emails about special offers and events such as the recent Hourglass and Living Proof Summer Glow pop up event to celebrate the launch of the Hourglass Caution Mascara. I headed along for an hour long one-to-one hair and make up consultation for a booking fee of £15 which was redeemable against Hourglass products. It was incredible and a much needed pamper. I got to have a full makeover with Hourglass which I wasn’t expecting and hair styling with Living Proof. I left feeling so, so glam and it even resulted in an impromptu date night!
If you’d like to try out Space NK for yourself, I have a link which will give you £10 off a £40 spend on your first online order plus free delivery! The offer is valid online only on orders over £40, until 30th September 2018 (affiliate link).
I’d love to hear about your favourite Space NK finds
