Those who know me, know that I can at times be a real worrier and sometimes it’s all too easy for that worry to turn into anxiety. While I love Christmas time, I do find that it can be a stressful time too for me as I try to juggle getting all my work done before the Christmas break, with a busy month of socialising and late nights and trying to find the perfect gifts for my loved ones. So when this month’s Om Yoga magazine landed on my iPad with a feature on banishing anxiety, it really couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time for me.
I’ve found the ‘Banish Anxiety’ feature to be invaluable these last few weeks. The feature is broken down into a number of articles which makes it so easy to dip in and out, be it first thing in the morning, on my way to and from work or as I head to bed. There is plenty to help get you thinking about things differently, in a more positive way and also how to combat that anxiety with physical activities such as yoga.
It’s maybe not such a surprise that my favourite articles were the one with the anxiety busting tips and those on thinking more positively. A number of the tips were not necessarily new ways of thinking but really did help reaffirm positive thinking habits. I think what’s important with articles such as these is just that reassurance that you’re not suffering with anxiety alone, there are others struggling with very similar feelings and very importantly that there are others who are able to help, even in small but meaningful ways with tips and advice which show you that anxiety can be overcome, which I always find is a very important thought to hold onto.
